Grand Cathay: Defenders of the Great Bastion

When danger threatens the lands of Grand Cathay, it is often the farmers, laborers, and townsfolk who rise to defend their homes. Though they lack the refined armour and rigorous training of the Jade Warriors, their determination and sheer numbers make them a force to be reckoned with. Armed with black powder firearms and long spears, they stand firm against horrors that would terrify most mortals.

This substantial boxed set is an excellent way to begin a new Armies of Grand Cathay collection or reinforce an existing force for Warhammer: The Old World. Commanded by two Astromancers—one on foot and one mounted on a Cathayan Warhorse—the army benefits from strong magical support. The core of the force is formed by a sizeable Peasant Levy, capable of overwhelming enemies through weight of numbers. Supporting them are Crane Gun Teams and Iron Hail Gunners, delivering powerful ranged attacks to thin enemy ranks from afar. This set offers the first opportunity to collect these new miniatures together.

Inside, you’ll find components to build 53 multipart plastic miniatures:
– 1x Astromancer (on foot)
– 1x Astromancer mounted on Cathayan Warhorse
– 1x Familiar
– 8x Crane Gun Teams
– 12x Iron Hail Gunners
– 30x Peasant Soldiers

The models include several customization options. Each Astromancer features a choice of two head designs and two right-hand weapon options.

The Peasant Levy can be assembled with either warbows or long spears. The kit includes options for up to three champions (each with two head choices), three musicians, and three standard bearers. A total of 72 interchangeable heads—both bare and hatted—are included, and the heads, hats, quivers, and weapons can be mixed and matched across the unit.

This set contains 696 plastic components and includes:
– 1x 30mm by 60mm rectangular base
– 8x 50mm by 25mm rectangular bases
– 44x 25mm square bases
